?PDO Thin Threads & Skin Rejuvenation? General Discussion
Hi all,
Welcome to our PDO THREADS AU Community Blog!
This post is dedicated to all PDO Thin Thread & Skin Rejuvenation/Tightening related topics.
As you may be aware PDO THREADS AU is currently seeking TGA approval and ARTG Inclusion for the Bijou Range of THIN PDO thread models. The team and I are very excited to bring this new range to the Australian market. While there are some models you may be familiar with (ie: Mono, Screw and Double Screw Threads), we will also be introducting three NEW model types: Mono White Threads, Double Threads and Mono Eye Cannula Threads:

- Mono White Threads - are a NEW type of Mono Thread. These have the SAME efficacy as a standard Mono Thread, but WITHOUT any dye or pigmented colour in the PDO suture (they?re clear/undyed).
- Double Threads - consist of TWO twisted monofilament PDO sutures and have TWICE the efficacy as a standard Mono Thread. These will be the real game changers for scaffolding creation when Thread Lifting.
- Mono Eye Cannula Threads - these are EXACTLY what the Australian market needs. A safer alternative to a sharp needle Mono Thread when working around the delicate areas of the eye. As most of you are aware, we DO NOT condone the use of sharp needle thin threads to treat tear troughs or crows feet, as the risk of complications from using a sharp needles to this area heavily relies on pracitioner technique. We strongly encourage ?best practices? and best practices means choosing, where possible, the safest option - this will be the Mono Eye Cannula: featuring a blunt B-Type Cannula. While designed specifically for treating areas around the eyes, they can also be used on all areas of the face and body.
For those who are new to the PDO Thread scene, the following Thin Thread models are quite commonly found in today?s Australia market: The Mono Threads for the past 24 months and the Screw and Double Screw Threads for the past 6-12 months:
- Mono Threads - These are the most BASIC type of PDO Thin Thread. They consist of one violet coloured PDO suture attached to a sharp needle and can be used all over the face (excluding the eye area) and body. A smart alternative for patients with very fair (or thin) skin where the purple pigment of a standard mono would otherwise be visible (sometimes appears like a tattoo effect)
- Screw Threads - These are wrapped around the sharp needle in a screw-like pattern, and retain their shape once inserted. The unique shape of the screw threads allows them to possess a subtle volumising effect. These are a great option for treatment areas that are wrinkled or dimpled.
- Double Screw Threads - These have TWICE the efficacy as your standard Screw Thread, and thus an enhanced volumsing effect (for those deeper wrinkles and dimples).
